One year ago on October 27 the federal government announced it was closing the Case Processing Centre after 23 years in our community. With the stroke of a pen, the federal government eliminated almost 10% of our community’s working population and moved over 230 jobs to Edmonton

Vegreville & District Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) & the Rotary Club of Vegreville have an exceptional opportunity for youth who are interested in making a change in their community and want to learn the skills needed to make it happen!
This new program is called Youth Making A Change (YMAC) for youth who are interested in partnering with others in the community and are passionate about making a difference. Members will be required to demonstrate a combination of experience and interests with the following topics: volunteerism, leadership, community development, and community engagement.
The Rotary Club of Vegreville and Vegreville & District FCSS got together to create a program that elevates youth voices, and gives them the opportunity to contribute to community programming, while providing young people with a unique opportunity to be the drivers of their own ideas from conceptualization to implementation.
So what does this program look like? There are four components:
Step 1 is to take part in interactive sessions which are designed to give youth the skills and tools they need to be successful.
Step 2 is when youth are matched with a non-profit board to put their skills into practice.
Step 3 brings the youth back together to address a community topic that is important to them.
Step 4 allows YMAC members to blog about their experiences. Check out the YMAC Blog
