Incubator Program a success for new business!
Town of Vegreville Economic Development & Tourism, the Vegreville & Area Chamber of Commerce, and Community Futures Elk Island Region, together have many services at the Business Development Centre for business assistance. The Centre has additional office space which the group offers to new or start-up companies and entrepreneurs. They provide short term affordable lease rates for service businesses in a program designed to assist them in a simplified way to get their business off the ground. With the staggering statistic of new businesses failing in the first year due to overhead costs, combined with lack of support services; the concept behind an incubator gives new businesses a greater success rate and less risk with shared services, low overhead, and assistance in a variety of ways.
In June of 2016 Blessed Be Wellness & Beauty owned by Janane Al-Kalaany, joined the incubator program. As a new business to the community, owner Jan was concerned about making ends meet in an independent commercial space before she had a chance to build up her clientele. The incubator was a perfect solution. With a few easy steps she was able to open her doors in the incubator and take advantage of the services, assistance and resources to build up her client base, market her services throughout the community and adjust her business plan to what her clients were asking for. In just a short 6 months Blessed Be Wellness & Beauty graduated out of the incubator program into a beautifully renovated space downtown at 5129 50 st. An added bonus was the ability to keep seeing clients in the incubator office, while the renovations were being completed on the new location. This type of success is exactly the purpose of the Incubator program and gives this new business a much higher rate of success.
