75th Street Area Structure Plan
The 75 Street Area Structure Plan describes potential highway commercial, service commercial and light industrial development on the previously unsubdivided portion of the SW-24-52-15-w4th. The parcel lies in the south west part of the Town of Vegreville. It is bounded on the north by municipal utility facilities (storm water ponds, water pump house) and a developed commercial area, all south of Highway 16A. The property to the west, across 75th Street, is occupied by Alberta Innovates-Technology Futures, a provincial government organization operating research facilities for the agricultural, environmental, and energy sectors. To the south and south west are agricultural lands, with pasture lands immediately across 55th Avenue (the municipal boundary), and a farmstead 300m south west. Immediately east of the parcel are an industrial storage yard and commercial developments. The objective of the ASP is to provide a plan for highway commercial, service commercial and light industrial sites in keeping with the Town’s Municipal Development Plan to compliment adjacent existing development and meet demand.
North Parkway Drainage System - COMPLETED
An update on the North Parkway Drainage system, the system is now complete. This area was set up for long term flood mitigation. This area is a catchment basin for a large portion of the town’s storm runoff water. It was deepened and engineered to handle higher volumes of flow, require less future maintenance and provide a natural scrubbing system to make sure the water leaving the drainway to the Vermilion River has been cleaned using natural processes. The area will become a very nice leisure spot for evening walks or picnics in the future, with the option of residential development nearby in future years as well.
