Happy Canada Day Eh!
Celebrations will look a little different this year due to the pandemic, but that doesn’t mean the fun can’t still happen safely!
We want to see photos of how you and your family and friends are celebrating our great Country! So we're kicking off the day with a social media photo contest. To enter you must tag us and use the hashtag #ExploreVegreville on your photos. Photos posted to Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram anytime on July 1 will be entered. Photos where people don’t appear to be following physical distancing and photos featuring alcohol and other prohibited substances will not be entered into the contest.
There will be 3 prizes up for grabs:
- First Place: $100 Chamber Bucks from the Vegreville & District Chamber of Commerce and Town of Vegreville swag.
- Second Place: $75 Chamber Bucks from the Vegreville & District Chamber of Commerce and Town of Vegreville swag.
- Third Place: $50 Chamber Bucks from the Vegreville & District Chamber of Commerce and Town of Vegreville swag.
To enter you must be over the age of 18 and a resident of Vegreville. This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Facebook. The winner will be picked by three judges on July 2 and the winners will be announced on social media. Points go to the most patriotic photos and best business display!
Did you think we forgot Fireworks? There will be a firework show at the Agricultural Grounds – drive in style! Vehicles can begin to enter the Ag Grounds at 9:30 PM and fireworks will start at 11:00 PM.
People must remain in their vehicles until 5 minutes before the fireworks begin. A single firework will be fired to alert people to the start of the show. When watching the fireworks you must remain in the immediate vicinity of your vehicle.
We recognize that others may choose to watch the fireworks from elsewhere. Should you choose to do this, please ensure that you practice physical distancing and obey public health orders at all times.
No alcohol or other restricted substances are permitted in the Ag Grounds. There will be no bathrooms available.
