Youth Making A Change

Youth Making a Change

Vegreville & District Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) & the Rotary Club of Vegreville have an exceptional opportunity for youth who are interested in making a change in their community and want to learn the skills needed to make it happen!

Youth Making A Change (YMAC) is for youth who are interested in partnering with others in the community and are passionate about making a difference. Members will be required to demonstrate a combination of experience and interests with the following topics: volunteerism, leadership, community development, and community engagement.

The Rotary Club of Vegreville and Vegreville & District FCSS got together to create a program that elevates youth voices, and gives them the opportunity to contribute to community programming, while providing young people with a unique opportunity to be the drivers of their own ideas from conceptualization to implementation.

So what does this program look like?
There are four components:
Part 1 Youth take part in interactive sessions which are designed to give youth the skills and tools they need to be successful.
Part 2 Youth are matched with a non-profit board to put their skills into practice.
Part 3 Youth address a community topic that is important to them by planning and executing a project together.
Part 4 YMAC members reflect about their experiences through out the program with video interviews.

Application:
-Youth in Grades 10-12
-Approximately 5 hours per month
-Project runs from September 2019 to March 2020
-Only 12 spots available

We all are to encourage a youth whom you feel would be perfect for this new and exciting opportunity.
