The employee in this position is responsible for monitoring maintenance, cleaning, scheduling, and pool operations at the Town of Vegreville Aquatic & Fitness Centre. Good interpersonal skills are a necessity for this position.
This employee will also assume the duties of the Aquatic Supervisor in her absence.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Maintains positive public relations with employees and the public.
Will be required to work shift work; this will include evenings and weekends.
Supervise staffing and sign off on lifeguard shift changes.
Guards and instructs scheduled programs, when required.
Assists supervisor with planning and programming.
Performs maintenance duties, and ensures all pool maintenance duties are also completed by lifeguards.
Ensures water quality is kept to Provincial standard.
Maintaining the Vegreville Lions Club Spray Park from May - September. This includes ensuring water quality, water
pumps, and filtrations are in good working order, and scheduling any repairs or maintenance.
Prepares and holds regular meetings with pool staff; this will include practicing and reviewing emergency procedures.
Administers First Aid and DPR according to Provincial standards, when required.
Provides requested services at any time in an emergency situation.
Assumes other duties as assigned.
Participates in the Town of Vegreville Safety Program.


Must be at least 18 years of age with a minimum of Grade 12 education and possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
At least 2 years of experience as a senior lifeguard or equivalent at a public pool.
Supervisory experience an asset and capable of working with staff, management and public.
Physically condition must allow performance of swimming and lifesaving tasks, as well as performing work assigned.
Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills and be self-motivated.
Standard First Aid/A.E.C.
Canadian Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Level 1 (W.S.I.)
National Lifeguard Service (N.L.S.)
Pool Operator 1
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification (C.P.R.) & WHMIS
Desirable to have Pool Operator 2, but not necessary.
