Compensation Rate:

Salary Range: $45,018 or $21.65/hour - $73,691 or $35.43/hour
Salary to commensurate with education, qualifications, and experience.

Details:

The Utilities Department of the Town of Vegreville has an opening for a full-time permanent Utilities Operator position. This individual will be responsible for carrying out daily work orders and work associated with the Town’s utilities collection and distribution systems. This employee will also be responsible for other necessary utilities related duties as set out in Servicing Agreements, including water distribution and treatment, and wastewater collection and treatment in accordance with all applicable standards and regulations. The Utilities Department has the operations contract for three phases of the Alberta Central East (ACE) water transmission line which services 13 Municipalities. The Town is also responsible for providing utility services in 5 other communities.

Suitable candidates will possess the following qualifications:

  • Grade 12 education or tested equivalent.
  • Three years of experience in water and wastewater operations is considered to be an asset in this position.
  • Must have or be able to obtain certification to meet Alberta Environment Standards for water distribution and treatment and wastewater collection and treatment within the first three years of employment.
  • Capable of operating medium type mobile and stationary equipment.
  • Capable of working with minimum supervision.
  • Capable of maintaining a professional relationship with employer(s), fellow employees, and the general public.
  • Physically capable of performing assigned duties. (Medical may be required)
  • Possess and retain a minimum Class 5 Alberta Operators License.
  • Have a good working knowledge of safety standards and practices and the ability and desire to implement them.
  • First aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation are considered to be assets in this position.
