Vegreville & District FCSS encourages and promotes volunteerism in our community. Every year, FCSS applies for a provincial government grant to celebrate National Volunteer Week. Volunteer Alberta manages this funding so that communities like ours can recognize and encourage local volunteers. Due to COVID restrictions, we were unable to host a community event so we’re doing a Volunteer Shout Out in November instead.
What is a Volunteer Shout Out
Volunteers nominated through the Volunteer Shout Out Program will receive an appreciation postcard and a Tim Horton's gift card. Nominations will be collected and one Shout Out will be given to each volunteer.
The deadline for nominations is November 30, 2020.
How to give a Volunteer Shout Out
Anyone can phone FCSS and get a Volunteer Shout Out postcard mailed to a local volunteer. Anyone in the Town of Vegreville or the western portion of the County of Minburn who performs (unpaid) volunteer work is eligible for nomination. These volunteers do not need to be affiliated with any particular non-profit group or charity in our area. Someone who voluntarily cuts grass for another person, for example or someone who offers to bring groceries to a neighbour could certainly be given a Volunteer Shout Out.
Call us at 780-632-3966 to nominate a remarkable volunteer.
