People with disabilities are an integral part of our community. They make major contributions to the economic and social pulses' of Alberta. In efforts to highlight the important roles persons with disabilities have in Vegreville, Town Council has proclaimed December 2, 2019, as International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

To celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities, there will be a Pancake Breakfast at the Senior Citizen Sunshine Club of Vegreville on December 2, from 10 AM to 1 PM. Cost is by donation, with all proceeds being donated to the Sunshine Club and the VegMin Learning Society. During the Pancake Breakfast, four businesses will be recognized for the outstanding work they do for people with disabilities in Vegreville, and one business will be rewarded with the Employment Award of Excellence.

The Proclamation reads:

Whereas, Persons with disabilities live in every part of the province and are an integral part of who we are as Albertans; and

Whereas, Persons with disabilities make a major contribution to the economic and social pulse of Alberta; and

Whereas, the community benefits if persons with disabilities are included in school, work and community activities; and

Whereas, the full value of persons with disabilities is often not realized because of physical or attitudinal barriers; and

Whereas, On December 2, 2019, individuals and organizations throughout Vegreville, Alberta will focus on raising awareness of persons with disabilities and their contributions.
