Emergency Preparedness WeekPosted on: May 04, 2020
Emergencies can strike anytime and anywhere, and being prepared is your best line of defence. The Town of Vegreville has comprehensive emergency management plans in place to prepare for, respond to, and recover from all potential hazards, including natural disasters and technological or human-caused incidents.
For Emergency Preparedness Week, May 3 to 9, the Vegreville Emergency Management Agency will be sharing tips and connecting people to resources that will help them get emergency ready. These resources outline simple, low-cost, and low-tech ways that residents can ensure their families are prepared if emergencies strike.
“In recent years, there have been many tragic examples in Alberta of how quickly disasters can strike, and Vegreville is not immune. Much work has been done in Vegreville to prepare for, respond to, and recover from events that could impact our community. But a vital component to how the Town fares through a disaster is our resident’s own preparedness – resilience is the by-product of preparedness,” says Phil Rowe, Director of Community Services and Co-Director of Emergency Management.
Residents are urged to follow the Town on social media to connect to emergency preparedness resources and information.
