Statement regarding COVID-19Posted on: Mar 12, 2020
The Town of Vegreville has been working with Alberta Health Services for the past several days to prepare Vegreville for the potential spread of COVID-19. We want to iterate that the risk to residents remains low, and the best way to protect yourself is to practice good hygiene. Wash your hands frequently and avoid touching your face with unwashed hands. If you're exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, stay home, do not go to a hospital or doctor's office, and contact 811 for further direction.
The Town of Vegreville urges everyone to visit www.alberta.ca/coronavirus for information about COVID-19, including symptoms, prevention, and future updates on this matter.
Background: On March 11, 2020, Alberta Health Services (AHS) confirmed a travel-related case of COVID-19 in Central Zone. AHS, the authority on this matter, has notified those who came in close contact with this individual and are following their practices and procedures to ensure the risk to Vegreville residents remains low.
