Town announces Mr. Chris Jardine as new Fire ChiefPosted on: Feb 11, 2020
The Town of Vegreville is pleased to announce that Mr. Chris Jardine will be joining the Town of Vegreville as our new Fire Chief. Council approved Administration’s recommendation to appoint Mr. Jardine at the regular Council meeting on February 10, 2020. An official transfer of command ceremony will be held on February 12th at 7:00 PM at the Fire Hall.
Mr. Jardine has been a member of the Vegreville Fire Department for eighteen years. Serving as the Deputy Fire Chief since 2010, he steps into the position with a robust understanding of the department's operations. His familiarity with the Town means he’s already built strong relationships with the community and members of the Fire Department, which positions him well to succeed in his new position. Outside of the Fire Department, Mr. Jardine pursues public safety as a Primary Care Paramedic and Direct Supervisor of Alberta Health Services.
Mr. Jardine precedes Mr. Phil Rowe, who remains at the Town as the Community Services Director, the Director in charge of Fire Services in the Town. In his four year term as Fire Chief, Mr. Rowe spearheaded the development of a leadership plan to develop officers and future department leaders and initiated a new training centre plan to train new firefighters. Mr. Rowe said, “It’s been an honour to serve our community as Fire Chief, and I’m proud to leave it in Chris’s capable hands. I’m very excited to continue to work with Chief Jardine to keep our community safe.”
