Councillor David Berry was elected to Vegreville Council in 2013 and is currently serving his second term. He says leaving the City eleven years ago and relocating his family to Vegreville was one of the best decisions he has ever made.
David grew up in Innisfail and learnt hard, commendable work-ethic by helping his dad with his business and relatives on their farms. David has always loved sports and the outdoors and has coached soccer, hockey, and baseball. He was a single parent to two children before meeting his wife, Shelley, twenty-six years ago. Now, they are parents to a wonderful daughter who currently attends St. Mary’s High School.
After graduating from the University of Alberta, David spent thirty-two years with Alberta Fish and Wildlife where he conducted research at lakes and streams before working in their Headquarters running the Walleye Enhancement Program. Later in his career he acted as Provincial Recreational Fisheries Specialist and was involved with policy, planning and sportfishing regulations.
David believes that a healthy and safe community is supported by having affordable recreation, cultural and social activities. He actively bolsters community involvement and engagement to help make Vegreville a better place for its residents.
